A few reports today about local communities taking the lead in fighting back against Somali pirates. While NATO warships scurry about the Gulf of Aden and Somali coast, local Somalians - vigilantes - recently took matters into their own hands and arrested 12 pirates. eRabita had the story.
And the Seychelles is getting into the act. The government there arrested nine suspected pirates - thanks to a helping hand from a local Spanish navy ship - who are believed to have tried to board an Italian cruise ship recently. HuffPo has a short overview.
Of course, if you want to get into the West's good books, you nab anyone in the area and call them a "pirate". Then site back and watch international adulation and aid flow in.
